The Influence of a Field-Aged Asphalt Binder and Aggregates on the Skid Resistance of Recycled Hot Mix Asphalt

The application of asphalt hot mix recycling is one challenge in sustainable road pavement research. In addition to the vast amount research on performance recycled asphalt–concrete, frictional resistance still limited. effects aged and aggregates skid were investigated this carefully extracted from field-reclaimed pavement, engineering mechanical properties virgin measured. degradation was simulated using an accelerated polishing machine mimic surface abrasion. Accordingly, initial final resistances determined correlated with aggregates. decreased reductions penetration ductility blended asphalt. However, changes contributed only small variations gradations resistances. aggregate controlled characteristics since covered binder partially polished off at stage.
